Five more acres are soon to be added to the existing area once the destination is reached, you will discover what an ambitious educational venture has been undertaken by the Sannyasis of the Bharat Sevashram Sangha , the well known socio-cultural and philanthropic voluntary organization of India. The Sangha for the last seven decades has been in constant services to the downtrodden and backward societies of India. The Sangha’s indefatigable relief work in times of flood drought, earthquake and famine, hardly needs any introduction.
Swami Pranavananda, the Founder-President of the Sangha, had always stressed that service to the ill-clad, ill-fed humanity is the best way to serve god. He believed that the uplift of the poor, backward and uneducated, depends on the dedicated and selfless social work. Having these ideas and missions in view, quate a good number of educational Institutions have been established in India.
Swami Pranavananda centenary Shikshayatan has come into existence to educate primarily the children of the economically and socially backward classes of both North Bengal and North Eastern zone of India. This is almost a residential co-ed English medium high school which is affiliated to the Westbengal Board of Secondary Education, Kolkata. The school provides all modern facilities to its student and emphasizes on character-building and man-making education.
The school which bid and fair to be a five storeyed building in future, at present has a student’s Hostel, the staff quarters and an auditorium. What is unique about the school is its swimming pool which is nearing competition. The school has both the playgrounds and a children’s park. The whole school area is well protected by a pucca wall to prevent any kind of unholy intrusion into the campus. The school has its own library and its own computer room where the computer sets are installed to import computer lessions to its students.
The school is self – sufficient having electricity, reservoir for drinking water and telephones. At the entrance to the school campus, there is a huge gate where a guard keeps a constant vigil on the trespassers’. On the both sides of the gate, you may notice the row of medicinal plants and verdant trees which soothe every one’s eyes.

Though the school has a principal, swami Satyanandaji looks after the entire administration of the school. He strains every nerve for the all development of the Institution which during these years has earned much reputation from people of all walks of life. Hence students from Bangladesh, Assam, and Kolkata are seeking their admission, caste or creed is no bar for admission here.
